Creme Brule

I made creme brule today!

It was surprisingly easy. Just 8 egg yolks, 2 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 1/4 cup ultrafine sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mixed that all together, heated it up on the stove until it hit about 100 degrees Fahrenheit then strained it. Put all that into 7 ramekins that were in pan filled with a little bit of hot water. 25 minutes in a 350 oven. Then burned a top layer of sugar! It was super fun and really quite delicious. Just ask if you want a more detailed recipe!

The other day I had lunch on campus... ugh it was terrible. It was some kind of sweet and sour chicken. I suppose it was worth a try given it was local and provided some kind of asian food.
It was about 90% sauce, 5% chicken and 5% rice that is covered with the sauce. Now I know not to go there again. Oh well~

Well, today was pretty good overall. I didn't think it was going to go very well... a lady was fairly bitchy to me at my salon and I didn't end up getting my hair dyed like I thought (it would've costed $165 o___o). But I got paid today!
I'll post pictures of my work later~

Gosh I should really get packing....

  2. Your creme brulee looks good, except the Asian food looks kind of gross. I was there... for the Asian food. How can you tell? My phone is in the bottom left corner.

And you got your hair dyed? I want pictures. And if you need pictures from your work, I have plenty of you ;) <-- creepy, but oh well.

  3. @ pankeke

Lol~ I'm not in culinary school. But I'm flattered you would mention that. My mom used to work in a french restaurant so she's teaching me a few dishes.
The fire thing is kind of scary. It even has a safety switch and everything haha

You're silly. You know that haha
I didn't get my hair dyed because it would've costed half my life savings. And no, I don't need creeper pictures of my work. But thank you <3

  4. I want to try to make my own creme brule but it still sounds hard.

Yea I went to a University that did not have many options of good Chinese food around the area. Everything was over-sauced! YUCK!
